EDventure students will explore the Volcano with scientists, geologists and park rangers. They will hike across craters, take seismological measurements, and unlock some of the ancient geological secrets of this dramatic land.
The striking geological structure of the Big Island lends itself to exciting exploration and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, with its 377 square miles, will allow the students varied opportunities to experience vast expanses of lava flows and lush, green jungles.
Apollo astronauts trained on the lava fields before going to the moon, and Hawaii’s volcanic terrain was selected as the test site for the Russian and United States Mars rover prototypes.
